For work that pops (literally). These glazes create a raised, textured effect that doesn’t flatten out in the firing. Great for linework, sponging, or even a little palette knife action. Works wonders at low or mid-fire.

The man, the myth, the mega nerd.

Back in the 80’s the ceramic industry was booming! Studios were popping up left and right, and schools were moulding the next generation of little ceramists.

But there was a problem: all the decent glaze products were imported and super pricey, and the cheaper options were as dodgy as you like.

Enter Tony Crisafi – stage left.

Tony is not an artist (but you probably guessed that from the photos). Tony is very much a man of science, he is also quite a tenacious fellow – so when he turned his lazer-like focus to creating high-quality, affordable glazes, he was not messing around.

His persistent and uncompromising approach enabled Chrysanthos to develop glazes that don’t sacrifice your well-being or their quality.

Tony has since brought the whole family on board, and along with their awesome team at the factory in Nanning and the Chrysanthos Experience Centre in Jingdezhen, they have got the glaze game down to a …um…science.

So, how does this incredible family of scientists make these next-level glazes? The amazing vibrant colours? The beautiful consistent results?

Well…for that you will have to ask Tony. But I should warn you, he will definitely tell you. Probably at length.

The raw materials are rigorously tested from the get-go to make sure they’re up to scratch – then, every batch of our glorious glaze is stopped at the factory gate and checked again for color and consistency.

Everything is super safe (because it’s hard to be artistic in a HAZMAT suit), and we’re happy to share exactly what’s in them. Just check out our meticulous labeling; it gives every potter the lowdown on what they’re working with.
