HIGH FIRE EXOTIC
Metallic, mesmerizing, and just a little dangerous.
This collection delivers eye-popping, mid-fire glaze action. But beware: some colors (hello, HE001, and HE005) contain lead—but hey, metallic effects are worth it.

This range has a lot of features mixed into one! Metallic, mottle, low-sheen and more!
For the adventurous types, Neutral (HE101) is your DIY glaze base—stains, oxides, and chaos are welcome.

BASIC USAGE GUIDE
The High Fire Exotic range requires mandatory kiln prep - because cleaning glaze puddles off shelves is nobody’s favorite weekend plan. Got dipping glazes on your wishlist? Look for the asterisks in the catalogue (*)—we’ve got you.

Layer it up – two or three coats to unlock the best effect! Mind the glaze thickness to avoid any runny disasters.

Don't skimp on the drying time between coats.

Does not mix well with other colors in the range (they're shy) but layer away.

Middle fire bisque or give it a miss!

All High Fire Exotic fire between Cone 4 (1,186°C) - Cone 6 (1,222°C). Use the handy filter to check if your favorite color works for you, and fires to Cone 8 (1,263°C).
We’re beginner Friendly and here to help (FAQ)
We wouldn’t recommend mixing the colors themselves, but feel free to work with different ranges on the same piece! Just make sure you stick to the same firing temperatures across the ranges.
Also be aware that some glazes can run during the firing process (especially this range!). So test, test, test.
The High Fire Exotic range has different firing temperatures based on the color. They all fall into one of these:
- Cone 4 (1,186°C) – Cone 6 (1,222°C)
- Cone 4 (1,186°C) – Cone 8 (1,263°C)
You can refer to the trusty filter above to see which color will work for you!
This range LOVES being layered! Don’t actually mix the colors together though.
How we recommend layering them is:
- Apply two coats (using the cross-hatch method) of your first color to the full cup, or vase etc. etc.
- Then choose a second color and apply two coats to only half way down the cup, or vase etc.
You’ll find the glaze will run, but hopefully not off your piece!
It sure is apart from some colors! If you fire it correctly and don’t see any crazing, pinholing or any other unwanted effects.
SKUS that are sensitive to highly alkaline or acidic liquids and food are: HE009, HE013, HE120, HE125, HE133, HE135, HE143 and HE151.
Brozne Metal (HE001) and Gun Metal (HE005) contain lead which give them those amazing metallic results. However, we developed Bronze Metal LF (HE009) and Gun Metal LF (HE013) as lead free alternatives that still produce beautiful finishes.
If you’ve used Neutral (SE101) and added in your own oxides and other raw materials, we can’t guarantee it’s food safe. Sorry!
Crazing can happen for a number of reasons, BUT the number one reason is there is mismatched thermal expansion of the bisque and glaze.
Crazing can happen immediately or over time (the worst!). Other reasons are the glaze is applied too thick or under firing the piece.
Delayed crazing happens when moisture is absorbed by the body causing it to expand.
Please store these in a cool, dark place with the lid tightly sealed. If you find it has dried out over time, you can add some Brushing Medium to help the glaze flow again and it will be good as new! Just give it a good shake before using it again.
