Underglaze in so many ways.

Five liquid ranges, plus our awesome chalk and pencil options.

The power of one. Just pure, solid colour, no tricks or pooling effects here. Like your glaze straightforward and classy, this one is for you. Keep it sleek on low, mid, or high fire pieces.

The ultimate wildcard. With these glazes, every piece is one of a kind.  Throw in some crevices, experiment with firing temps, and watch your art do its thing.

The show stopper. Glorious crystals bringing in the wow factor! Available in low and mid-fire, these beauties can craze like nobody’s business, so maybe don’t serve up dinner on them. But as eye candy? Next level.

For work that pops (literally). These glazes create a raised, textured effect that doesn’t flatten out in the firing. Great for linework, sponging, or even a little palette knife action. Works wonders at low or mid-fire.

Color treat, without the heat. These bad boys don’t go near a kiln – just like regular acrylic paint, but made for bisque. Perfect for kids’ programs and bisque art parties; just paint and go, no firing required.

Lock it in, for the win. The final seal! Work so good you want to eat off it? Food-safe option is for you. Just like your stuff shiny? We’ve got your back at low, mid, or high-fire.

Keep the studio stocked. For high-volume glaze fiends who want to minimise waste. Buy in bulk and mix as you need. Awesome way to get a little more bang for your buck.

What is the firing range for Ultra Stains?

The Ultra Stain range has different firing temperatures based on the color. They all fall into one of these:

  • Cone 06 (999°C) – Cone 03 (1,101°C)
  • Cone 06 (999°C) – Cone 6 (1,222°C)

How much Ultra Stain should I add to glaze or clay?

The amount varies depending on the desired intensity. As a general guide:

  • For glazes, start with 5-10% Ultra Stain by weight and adjust as needed.
  • For coloring clay bodies, 1-10% Ultra Stain is typical—higher percentages create more vibrant colors but may affect workability.

Remember, test test test!

Can I use Ultra Stains for brushwork or detailed decoration?

Yes! Mix Ultra Stains with a medium like water, gum solution, or a glaze base to create washes or detailed painted effects.

Will the color change after firing?

Yes, some Ultra Stains can shift depending on the firing temperature, atmosphere, and base glaze. Test firing is recommended to ensure the final result matches your vision.

Do I need to use a specific type of clay or glaze with Ultra Stains?

Nope! They work with most clay bodies and glazes, but certain colors may behave differently on white vs. dark clays. A test tile will help you see the effects before glazing an entire piece.
